On today’s show, we told you about how patients will soon be able to take a year’s worth of medicine via wireless implant. And now more good health care news: researchers have figured out a way to wirelessly monitor broken bones. The idea is to place a small sensor on the break that will transmit information like how much stress you’re putting on the break and what the temperature is. From Gizmodo: “The sensor’s small stature also enables it to mount directly onto a medical implant virtually anywhere in the body.”
I suppose breaking a bone is never really good news, but at least when you go to your future doctor for your future ankle break, because in the future you forget to shovel the steps and you slip on the ice – you won’t have to be subjected to contorting your aching leg into an X-Ray machine.
