Arrival now set, Windows 8 is dividing the tech world

Microsoft said this week the official unveiling on Windows 8 will be on Feb. 29, and both the celebration and hang-wringing are underway. Windows is undoubtedly important, given its continued dominance generally, and particularly in the workplace. And Windows 8 is a full-on interface reboot, compared with the more incremental changes from XP to Vista to Windows 7. Some folks are very unhappy.
Others are drooling over it.
In the meantime, Microsoft needs a hit. Europe seems to be leading the gradual de-Windows-ization of the world, with sales figures shrinking big-time
