McDonald’s Twitter campaign goes horribly and predictably wrong

John Moe Jan 24, 2012

Okay, let’s see if you’re smarter than whoever is running social media marketing for McDonald’s. Consider this idea: you encourage people on Twitter to tell their favorite positive stories about their experiences eating at McDonald’s using the hashtag #McDStories, because everyone on Twitter will really want to help you out and be totally nice about it.

See the problem there? McDonald’s didn’t and tried to launch that campaign. The tag took off and got really popular, alright, but only with people being intensely and sometimes hilariously negative.
