Facebook Timeline rolls live globally

John Moe Dec 15, 2011

After much ballyhoo and folderol, Facebook’s Timeline feature has rolled live. I just updated my Facebook profile to use it and my first impression is that all of a sudden, I’m sharing more than I did before. To begin with, I needed to find a photo of myself that I wouldn’t mind making huge and prominent. This was a major task considering there’s a reason some of us hide in dark studios and talk into microphones instead of cameras.

Timelines don’t go live until December 22nd but you can see your own and edit it. Your activity is separated into two columns so it’s no longer a centered scrolling reel of activity, looks more like a layout now. Facebook also encourages you to map your photos. I guess that’s to let your friends know where you’ve been. Of course, it also tells Facebook where you’re likely to go.

There’s a lot happening in the world.  Through it all, Marketplace is here for you.

You rely on Marketplace to break down the world’s events and tell you how it affects you in a fact-based, approachable way. We rely on your financial support to keep making that possible.

Your donation today powers the independent journalism that you rely on. For just $5/month, you can help sustain Marketplace so we can keep reporting on the things that matter to you.
