Android tablet, you know, for kids

John Moe Nov 11, 2011

You knew it had to happen, right? Toys R Us has come out with the Nabi, a tablet computer designed just for kids. It comes pre-loaded with educational software and kid friendly apps and offers a heavily filtered browser. Nabi also has a front-facing camera. It’s wi-fi only and comes in at $199, which is both a cheap price and an indicator that a slew of other cheap mini-tablets are on the way. Nabi comes with what they call a “Mommy Mode” – because there’s nothing weird or sexist about that, right? – that lets an adult switch off the safeties and use it as a regular tablet. Pre-orders are up now, ships December 1 with a free stuffed bear for some reason.
