Disney/ABC re-ups with Netflix, signs with Amazon

John Moe Oct 31, 2011

The big news in my house: all those Disney live action shows with loud mouthed sassy kids and their idiot parents are going to keep beaming into my house! Yay everything is terrible!

The Mouse has renewed its deal with Netflix before it expired, meaning old episodes of Lost and Grey’s Anatomy as well as the various aforementioned mind ripping shows are going to stick around a while longer. There’s some new content that will also come aboard but this is mostly a win for Netflix by not losing. If more shows jumped ship, yeesh.
The new deal expands Amazon’s streaming catalog, which still trails Netflix’s.
It kind of gives everyone what they want. Netflix gets to keep its head above water, Amazon gets to expand, and Disney gets paid twice for stuff it made a long time ago.
