#OccupyColumbusDay

Stan Alcorn Oct 10, 2011

I was down at Occupy Wall Street today, where Columbus Day could be felt in the increased quantity of school-age kids. (There was a “teach-in” just before I arrived.) But at least a few occupiers also saw it as an opportunity for more specialized dissent. Blackfeather has been at the protest for the last several weeks, but today he had a new sign:

Columbus You Missed 1 / Taino Vive.

The Taino were a Carribean tribe that was largely wiped out by smallpox and violence brought by Columbus and his men.
