For Marketplace Morning Report, Mon., Oct. 10, 2011

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy met over the weekend and agreed to come up with a plan to solve the European banking crisis by the end of the month, right before the G20 Summit. The Dream Act passes in California, and Massachusetts grocers are opting out of self-checkout systems. Only weeks after announcing Qwikster, Netflix is backing out of the plan to create a separate company for its DVD mailing service. And Happy Columbus Day!

And here are the songs we played today:

  • Street Clothes - Fool's Gold Buy
  • Little Man - Little DragonBuy
  • The Stranger - RJD2Buy
  • Cosmosis - The DragonsBuy
  • Musicawi Silt - The DaktarisBuy

“I think the best compliment I can give is not to say how much your programs have taught me (a ton), but how much Marketplace has motivated me to go out and teach myself.” – Michael in Arlington, VA
