Semi-virtual toys all the rage this Christmas?

John Moe Oct 5, 2011

I put that question mark in there because it’s an article from USA Today which sometimes makes a trend bigger than it really is. Still, there is a whole bunch of new toys on the market that combine actual physical traditional toys with tablet computer apps. There’s one for the movie Cars which lets you drive your real toy car around a virtual road on an iPad. Also, a Crayola set where for $30 you can get crayon styluses that work on an iPad paper (preeeeetty sure a box of crayons and some damn paper would be cheaper). And there’s a toy helicopter with a controller that hooks up to your iPad and beams infrared commands.
Kids: GO OUTSIDE.
