Help! Help! My Kindle is on Fire!

John Moe Sep 27, 2011

According to a report on TechCrunch, the new Kindle being announced tomorrow is going to be called the Kindle Fire. Now the big question is which song or songs will be used to advertise it. Jimi Hendrix’s “Fire”? Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Let Me Stand Next To Your Fire”? Springsteen’s “I’m on Fire” would be a sullen but interesting choice. 7-inch screen, looks a little like RIM’s Playbook. TechCrunch also says Amazon has been inking last minute deals for more TV shows and movies to be offered through its streaming service and that content could then be played on the Fire. Looks like the final price will be $300: $250 for the device and then $50 for Amazon Prime, the annual-fee service that also gives you free shipping and the streaming content. Considering Prime is usually $79 per year, that’s a good deal. Amazon is trying to position its annual fee as just a yearly bill you pay. They get money up front instead of charging piece by piece.
