‘Calmest’ 300-point selloff on Wall Street today

Kai Ryssdal Sep 9, 2011

This final note on the way out, just to get back to that idea that the legacy of September 11th fundamentally isn’t about economics or money.

I saw this on Maria Bartiromo’s Twitter feed this afternoon. She was on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange at the close today — as she usually is when there’s a big day, up or down.

Anyway, here’s what she said: “Calmest, quietest 300 pt selloff I have ever seen.”

My guess is people had other things on their minds.

Marketplace is on a mission.

We believe Main Street matters as much as Wall Street, economic news is made relevant and real through human stories, and a touch of humor helps enliven topics you might typically find…well, dull.

Through the signature style that only Marketplace can deliver, we’re on a mission to raise the economic intelligence of the country—but we don’t do it alone.
