Tess Vigeland: But wait, before we leave the lemonade stand for good, let’s get to this week’s Marketplace Money Piggy Award.

Our little blue plastic friend is heading to… Where else? Ann Arbor. ‘Cause when your lemonade business has that kind of swaggah, you need an appropriate cash container. So Molly, Lucy, you each have a piggy coming to you. I suggest you start saving up for the MBAs you will no doubt be pursuing.

And just a reminder to the rest of you who covet our blue plastic friend, there is a random number up on the chalkboard wall in my office. When we hit that number of likes on the Marketplace Money Facebook page that person gets a pig. You know you want one.

Marketplace is on a mission.

We believe Main Street matters as much as Wall Street, economic news is made relevant and real through human stories, and a touch of humor helps enliven topics you might typically find…well, dull.

Through the signature style that only Marketplace can deliver, we’re on a mission to raise the economic intelligence of the country—but we don’t do it alone. We count on listeners and readers like you to keep this public service free and accessible to all. Will you become a partner in our mission today?

Your donation is critical to the future of public service journalism. Support our work today – for as little as $5 – and help us keep making people smarter.
