If you’ve been waiting for just the right time to buy an official Stormtrooper costume, get ready. A UK court just ruled against Lucasfilm, which was suing Andrew Ainsworth for selling replicas. Ainsworth is the original designer of the uniforms and has been selling replicas cast from original molds for around $2000. Lucasfilm won a $20 million suit in the U.S., but since Ainsworth doesn’t hold any U.S. assets, the case was moot. He argued that the costumes were not works of art, thus only subject to a 15-year copyright law.
