Sony offers identity theft protection

In a related story: your dog offers to guard that pork chop. Sony’s PlayStation Network have until July 31st to sign up for AllClear ID, a program to guard against ID thieves. It’s free for PSN and Qriocity (Sony’s music service) users.

From USA Today:

The program includes cyber monitoring and surveillance, priority access to private investigators and other experts, and a $1 million ID theft insurance policy.

Along with the ID theft protection plan, Sony also introduced a “Welcome Back” program to entice users back to PSN. The deal included two free PlayStation 3 and two PlayStation Portable titles.
