The economic recovery, now in its terrible twos

Kai Ryssdal Jul 5, 2011

This final note today, which comes with a nod to our friends at Planet Money. We all — present company included — missed a key anniversary last week. The economic recovery turned two at the end of June.

What’s that? Doesn’t feel much like a recovery? Maybe that’s because average home prices are down 10 percent since the end of the recession. Or because the economy’s only added half a million jobs the past two years.

Still, GDP is growing, which is better than the alternative.
