Go grab your Google Goggles, get to the Getty

John Moe Jun 28, 2011

The Getty Museum in Los Angeles is now Android enabled. You can take a picture of a painting in the permanent collection from the free Google Goggles app on your Android phone and get information on the painting and the artist, hear from curators and art historians. Sometimes there’s an interview with the artist. iPhone owners will be forced to just stare at a painting and experience it in the moment for the sake of art itself LIKE SOME KIND OF MONKEY*. Google wanted to work with the Getty because the Goggles team is based in Los Angeles and can see the Getty from their break room. Seriously.

*UPDATE: Whoops! Turns out iPhone also has the Google Goggles capability so art history ahoy for both platforms.
