Google takes over Wyoming

John Moe Jun 23, 2011

It’s a 4 million dollar cash deal. Kidding. All state workers in Wyoming are now running on Google Apps for Government, Gmail, and all sorts of Google cloud services. This means they’ve kicked Microsoft to the curb and probably saved a lot of money in the process. OR HAVE THEY? In the long run, sure, but transitioning major systems, training people, and supporting the operation is a big expense up front and still an expense going forward. Granted, Wyoming has a population of, like, 14 people (three of whom are technically horses) but the more big organizations make this move, the easier it becomes for other organizations to do the same.
