Where are the high net worth individuals?

Kai Ryssdal Jun 22, 2011

Today, a glimpse at how — or maybe where — the other half lives.

I learned a new acronym today — HNWI, aka high net worth individuals. People with a million or more in “investable” assets.

Merrill Lynch and the consulting firm CapGemini did a survey. There are almost 11 million HNWI in the world today, up 8 percent from a year ago.

More than half of ’em live in just three countries. Guesses?

Take a minute…

Yep, the US.

Next? Japan.

And Germany.
