‘Cramming’ could cost phone companies almost $12 million

Thursday, the Federal Communications Commission proposed penalties against Main Street Telephone, VoiceNet Telephone, LLC, Cheap2Dial Telephone, LLC and Norristown Telephone, LLC – penalties which would total almost $12 million.

From Hilicon Valley:

“The practice, known as “cramming,” takes place when a company charges places an wrongful charge on a customer’s phone bill without explanation. These mystery fees typically range between $1.99 and $19.99 per month.”
