Comcast is set to turn Facebook into TV

John Moe Jun 15, 2011

On Thursday, Comcast CEO and chairman Brian Roberts is going to demo a new service the company is testing out in Augusta, GA. It’s something Comcast is calling it “Xfinity Spectrum” and it’s using Intel-powered set-top boxes that integrate Facebook and other services like weather and traffic apps to your TV-watching experience. So, when you’re watching So You Think You Can Dance, you can like it right on your TV and it will show up on your Facebook wall. All this after the E3 conference where game consoles look like they’re vying to be your new TVs. Google TV tried something like that, but it flopped because Google didn’t make arrangements with content makers about putting their shows on Google’s product. whoopsie daisie.
