Apple offers Mac Defender defender*

John Moe Jun 1, 2011

Apple is offering an operating system update to neutralize any infection by the fake anti-virus program “Mac Defender”. We talked about this a while ago: you get a pop up saying your computer is infected, click here and we’ll clean it up for you with Mac Defender. But that program is itself the malware (sad trombone). You’ll need to be running the latest version of the Snow Leopard operating system to get the fix so update to that and then get all squared away and defend yourself.

  • Remember the video game Defender? That was awesome. I was terrible at it but have fond memories nonetheless. Go figure.
