Princess Beatrice’s infamous hat gets auctioned

Kai Ryssdal May 18, 2011

This final note today. I’m on the record — on the program and on my Twitter feed — as not having cared much for Kate Middleton’s dress. Thought her sister’s was way better.

I mention that as a way to set up this item on another peice of fashion news from the royal wedding. Princess Beatrice’s hat might eventually wind up doing some good. If you didn’t see it, the thing has alternately been described as looking like a toilet seat or a bowl of spaghetti. Anyway, she put it on eBay to raise money for children’s charity. The auction site said today bidding has topped $30,000.
