Factory worker, royal family enthusiast and U.K. resident Stephen Nesbitt wanted to to celebrate last week’s royal wedding between Kate and William by permanently tattooing a message of good will on his thigh. So he went to his local tattoo parlor in northeast England, where he reasonably assumed that the tattoo artist would know when the national celebration was taking place.
Sadly, he was mistaken.
The 33-year-old was hoping to have “Good luck William and Kate” with the date of the celebration — April 29 — permanently inked on his body. But he got something a little different.
Instead of tattooing Friday’s date on Mr. Nesbitt’s thigh, tattoo artist Alan Fleck, 35, inked April 28 at the end of the good luck message.
Mr. Nesbitt wasn’t aware of the mistake until after leaving the Newcastle studio, when he was showing his new body art to a friend.
Luckily, Mr. Nesbitt is taking the mistake in good stride.
“It’s quirky. It’ll be the only one in the country with that date,” the Sun quote the 33-year-old as saying.
The ill-informed tattoo artist has agreed to refund the cost of the tattoo, £30 (about $50) for the royal blunder.
