Google TV is a flop, chapter 487

John Moe Apr 29, 2011

Seems like we’ve talked about this since Google TV launched and instantly got blocked by all sorts of TV outlets. The latest indication is numbers from Logitech, which makes the Revue set top box that’s Google TV enabled. Projected revenues from Revue: $18 million. Actual revenues: $5 million. The fact that you just can’t watch very much on the dang thing is a huge contributing factor. But it might be branding too. Google is a way to navigate the universe of web content. When we watch TV, on the other hand, we want to have a limited number of options to flip through. Sure, that might be 500 channels of cable, but that’s different than eleventy quillion websites that Google navigates.
