The Department of Justice announced this week that the agency has made an agreement with PokerStars and Full Tilt that would let its users get back money they had given to the sites; users haven’t been able to access their money since last Friday. PokerStars and Full Tilt were two of three sites seized and charged with bank fraud and more. U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said in a statement: “No individual player accounts were ever frozen or restrained, and each implicated poker company has at all times been free to reimburse any player’s deposited funds.” Congress has been working on legislation to legalize online poker, and these recent seizures and fallout have created a little more urgency around the matter, although there are still people in the House not interested in getting in this debate ahead of 2012 elections.
