A government shutdown for a few days could be the economic equivalent of a big blizzard; any longer, and it could become much worse. Bob Moon talked to Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz about the ongoing budget talks. Bob also spoke to Lawrence White about the future of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

The European Central Bank raised its interest rates today, which shows it’s more concerned about inflation than the U.S. Malls around the country are continuing to close stores, even though retail sales are up.

We heard about the history of Muammar Gaddafi’s reputation in the MIddle East, and why commentator Parag Khanna doesn’t think the Arab world should be considered a third world. And here are the songs we played:

  • Son of Neckbone – Beastie BoysBuy
  • Another Sunny Day – Belle & SebastianBuy
  • Northside Diehard – MatlockBuy
  • Faithful – AnwarriorBuy
