Blocking Gmail? We didn’t do it, says China

John Moe Mar 22, 2011

Yesterday, we talked about Google’s Gmail service going down in China. Google reported it at the same time as they pointed out that everything about Gmail was working just fine on their end so the blockage was clearly coming from inside the country. Google has had a long history of being censored and blocked in China and there have been a lot of cases of hacking coming from China. Chinese dissidents have had their Gmail accounts accessed. Hell, Google told me that someone in China was attempting to hack into even my Gmail account.
But China says they weren’t behind this.
