At a conference in Hanover, Germany, Ford chairman Alan Mullaly introduced a version of the Sync on board assistance program for European drivers. If there’s an accident, the installed app can detect where in Europe you are in order to locate help, talk to you in 19 different European languages, and communicate with emergency personnel in even more. The New York Times reports that in order to test the system, Ford did not go to Europe, rather they divided up Dearborn, Michigan into a series of tiny simulated countries. Yep, you’re really in Michigan but you can pretend it’s the Swiss Alps.
