The New York Stock Exchange has agreed to a merger with Deutsche Borse. It’ll be a step to survive, and one that’ll leave stocks mainly behind. President Obama defended his 2012 budget today. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced her department’s plans to support Internet freedom. Chevron is on the hook for $9 billion in Ecuador, and it could be a long legal battle ahead.

In the Middle East, rulers are trying to increase benefits for the poor and avoid the popular anger that helped overthrow former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak. And we had two stories on separation barriers and their effects on immigration around the world. Here are the songs we played:
