Playlist: Mubarak steps down, Fannie and Freddie

After 18 days of protest, it was announced this morning that Hosni Mubarak has agreed to step down as Egyptian president. The crowds in Cairo erupted in celebration and cheers. Meanwhile, the prospect of democracy in other Middle Eastern countries, like Jordan, brings worries of instability for investors and businesses.

Here in the U.S., President Obama’s finance plan aims to gradually wind down Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. A California court has ruled that retailers can no longer ask for customers’ zip codes at the register. Nokia brings Windows 7 to its phones in efforts to rev up competition in the phone market, and fashion goes mobile in Portland. Here are the songs we played:
