Freakonomics was back this week, and Stephen Dubner posed the question of whether we should be paying for our trash. It may have an effect on how much we choose to throw away. The president’s commission released its report on the BP spill today, and recommended no new permits for drilling in the Arctic until safety standards meet drilling ability. Kai then spoke to Alison Fitzgerald, co-author of the new book “In Too Deep,” which covers BP’s risky drilling history. Jennifer Collins reported that for-profit schools are struggling under new regulations regarding recruitment and student loans. GM is looking to buy Ally Bank, formerly known as GMAC. Bloomberg looks to launch its own “rich list” after hiring away the long time editor of the Forbes 400. And Janet Babin reported on how gentrification is affecting the neighborhood of Harlem.
