Ikea ends sale of incandescent light bulbs

John Moe Jan 5, 2011

The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 mandated that all US retailers stop selling incandescent light bulbs by 2012. If you’re like most people, you didn’t even remember that. But the Swedish retailing giant did and they’re the first major store to make the switch over to LED lamps, compact fluorescent lights, and halogen bulbs. In keeping with Ikea tradition, you will need to assemble all your new light bulbs with an Allen wrench and it will break almost instantly.
