Google’s Chrome app store is a dud

John Moe Jan 5, 2011

Google launched this store for apps that can be used out of its Chrome browser last month amid at least a modicum of hoopla. But the sales figures gleaned by Tech Crunch look very bleak indeed.

Sitting at the top of the (top paid app) list is Toddler Jukebox, a colorful little app selling for $1.99 that lets you play twelve children’s songs, like ‘Wheels on the Bus’. And, according to the Web Store stats, it’s been installed six times this week. Ouch.

The free applications are faring a little bit better but they’re free apps. Tech Crunch points to the fact that the store is pretty hard to find. The latest version of Chrome features no prominent link to the store.
