Vizio to kill the tablet star?

John Moe Jan 3, 2011

Pardon the Buggles reference. Vizio has made a splash by selling cheap LCD TVs in places like Wal-Mart. Today, they’re getting into the tablet and smart phone market, announcing Android-enabled devices in both categories. The assumption is that the Vizio products will be pretty inexpensive and could therefore drag prices down across the board (stratification emerges between performance devices and mass market devices, slimmer margins force more competitors out of the market, whatever market speculation you care to insert here). Still, if you want a device and you don’t want to spend a ton: potential yay.
