For Marketplace, Tuesday, December 7, 2010

On today's show, we took a look at how nonprofit organizations are using social media as a way to raise funds, promote missions and even recruit professionals as volunteers. In Cancun, China announced plans to try and reduce growth of its carbon emissions. As President Obama explained his reasoning for compromise over the tax cuts -- that it would allow for some breathing room to look at long-term solutions to the deficit, we looked at what those solutions may be. More subprime borrowers got auto loans in the last quarter. UPS will start checking IDs for shipping packages. A ruling in the Frank and Jamie McCourt divorce case may put Jamie in part-ownership. The play-by-play of our songs is below:

  • Hiatus - The MotetBuy
  • D.O.A. (Death of Autotune) - Jay-ZBuy
  • Classical Gas - Mason WilliamsBuy
  • Paper Planes (DFA remix) - M.I.A.Buy

“I think the best compliment I can give is not to say how much your programs have taught me (a ton), but how much Marketplace has motivated me to go out and teach myself.” – Michael in Arlington, VA
