On today’s show, Ireland is the latest European country to face financial crisis, and a possible EU bailout. Kai talked to Joe Nocera, co-author of “All the Devils Are Here” about the beginnings of the financial crisis here in America, and who was to blame. Kai also spoke to Stephen Dubner in the latest Freakonomics segment, in which Dubner theorized that Americans should try to start a savings account with the lottery. A Congressional Oversight Panel released its foreclosure-gate report today, and a trade group for the mortgage securitization industry has issued a report defending the practice. Mitchell Hartman reports the timing is more than sheer coincidence. Nancy Marshall Genzer had a story about more opposition to the Fed’s roles. Healthy foods are seeing a big jump in prices.
