For Marketplace, Thursday, November 10, 2010
On today’s show, Bob Moon and John Dimsdale discussed the president’s plan to cut $4 trillion in government debt with big changes to the tax code and by reducing spending on defense, health care and Social Security. Walmart announced it was going to offer free shipping this holiday season. Jeff Tyler reported on the rise of wills being written by illegal immigrants who are looking to prepare in case they are deported. We visited a job fair and found that though many of the openings were only temporary, it could be a sign of something better to come. Bob also talked Marian Wang from ProPublica about her findings when looking at the job listings for foreclosure experts, and how that affected the latest foreclosure crisis. We also had stories about the GOP and health care, and how investors prepared for quantitative easing. And here are the songs we played:
- Funk Bomb – Alfred “Pee Wee” EllisBuy
- Cocaine – Eric ClaptonBuy
- Milton Road (My Skull With Flowers mix by Kim Hiorthoy) – Mice ParadeBuy
- Eyes on the Prize – Mavis StaplesBuy
- African Velvet – AirBuy
