Rap wars now conducted on YouTube

John Moe Nov 5, 2010

Oh sure, no one recalls the days of rappers shooting each other outside of night clubs with any special fondness, but it does feel a bit hollow when a big rap beef is handled over YouTube. Granted, it’s hard to have a whole lot of credibility anyway when one of the participants is MC Hammer.

It all started when Jay-Z, appearing on the new Kanye West track “So Appalled”, said “Hammer went broke so you know I’m more focused /I lost 30 mil’ so I spent another 30/ ‘Cause unlike Hammer 30 million can’t hurt me” Hammer responded with a ludicrously awful YouTube video called “Better Run Run” where he chases a chubby actor playing Jay-Z through the woods. The video has over 650,000 hits so far (oh of course I was one of them).

Now Jay-Z is laughing it all off saying he didn’t realize that Hammer’s notorious money problems were off the table.
