For Marketplace Money, Friday, November 5, 2010

We began our partnership with the New York Times with a chat with Times columnist Ron Lieber about “The Sandwich Generation,” those Americans aged 40 to 60 who are ‘sandwiched’ between taking care of their children as well as an aging parent or more. We had a story that took us to Cal Tech for a little dessert, to talk about Dr. Antonio Rangel’s study about how seeing and feeling something might make us feel okay about paying more for it. Tess talked to Amy Scott about the new rules put upon for-profit schools, and to the “Fairy Jobmother,” Hayley Taylor, who has a new show on Lifetime. Mitchell Hartman reported on the Fed’s new plan, and why it won’t help savers. And here are the songs we played:

  • Fela Jam! – Fela Kuti
  • Wolf Cub – Burial/Four Tet
  • Op Hop Detonation – StereolabBuy
  • Looking Glass – Little DragonBuy
