New search engine with terrible name debuts

John Moe Nov 1, 2010

Blekko is not trying to position itself as a Google killer but it is of interest to someone who wants to put a little more thought into what they put into a search in order to get something more out of it. It goes live today. With Blekko, you can use what are called “slashtags”. If you want to look up honey, you’re going to be looking for different things if you’re a beekeeper than you would if you’re a baker. So you type in honey/beekeeping and get something along those lines. Or if you want to type in BP/liberal vs. BP/conservative. You can also click on searches other people have already set up.
