How to read an EnergyGuide label

Christina Huh Oct 28, 2010

Eve Troeh reported today on TVs made after May 10, 2011 will be required to sport an EnergyGuide label. Below is one example of what one type of label would look like:

All labels for televisions will show the estimated annual energy cost and a comparison of annual energy costs of other televisions with similar screen sizes.

Buying your TV online? Starting July 11, 2011, retail electronics websits will be required to display an image of the EnergyGuide label. For more information about EnergyGuide labels in general go to this Federal Trade Commission website.

If you’re a member of your local public radio station, we thank you — because your support helps those stations keep programs like Marketplace on the air.  But for Marketplace to continue to grow, we need additional investment from those who care most about what we do: superfans like you.

Your donation — as little as $5 — helps us create more content that matters to you and your community, and to reach more people where they are – whether that’s radio, podcasts or online.

When you contribute directly to Marketplace, you become a partner in that mission: someone who understands that when we all get smarter, everybody wins.
