Cleveland pride as NBA season starts

Kai Ryssdal Oct 26, 2010

This final note today, in observance of the start of the National Basketball Association season tonight.

NBA uber-star Lebron James takes the court for the Miami Heat against the Celtics in Boston. James’s hometown of Cleveland is trying to move past his high-profile defection to the Heat. And at least locals aren’t going to have to be reminded of him on a daily basis.

The building-sized mural of James that used to hang across from the arena that the Cleveland Cavaliers play in has been replaced by an ad for Sherwin Williams, the paint company. The banner ad is a shot of the Cleveland skyline with the tag line “Our Home Since 1866. Our Pride Forever.”

Ouch.
