For Marketplace Money, Friday, October 15, 2010

This weekend’s show had stories about the new credit card restrictions put on young adults and college students, and how that affects how they deal with money. College students also often have to deal with loans, and commentator Kim Clark gave her take on the minuses of PLUS loans. We also heard from a super saver from Oregon, kicking off our new series on people and their strategies on saving money. We took a look at the popular AMC show “Mad Men” to try and see what its depiction of the 60s and layoffs can tell us about our current situation. Rob Schmitz reported from China about American companies’ marketing tactics to engage Chinese consumers, and Tess spoke to the Sheila Bair, chairman of the FDIC, about public trust in banks. And here are the songs we played.
