Red means you’re fired

Kai Ryssdal Oct 11, 2010

This final note today. Getting fired is bad enough, but finding out from a traffic light? File this one under Human Relations horror stories:

The UK mobile phone company Everything Everywhere called its employees into a meeting and showed them a light. Red meant you’re fired. Yellow meant you had to re-apply for your job. Blue meant you’re safe. Apparently, people were walking out of the room or breaking down in tears. The company says everyone had been told face-to-face, when possible. Still though, you gotta admit, kinda harsh.
