The University of Michigan is developing a “venture accelerator,” a sort of think tank where venture capitalists and companies can share ideas with university researchers. It could be the beginning of a forward-thinking movement, or it could erode the values of academia. London struggles to fill jobs without foreign help, but with a cap on immigration put on by the government, many projects may get sidetracked. Unemployment here in the U.S., meanwhile, remains high, and Robert Reich comments on why we shouldn’t allow for wages or the U.S. dollar to get lower. Two stories related to holiday shopping today looked into deep discounts coming at retailers, and free shipping fees for buying online. China continues to refuse to let the yuan rise, and Kai talked to Jeremy Hobson about what this could all mean. Here are the songs we played:

  • Wolves – DoshBuy
  • The Staunton Lick – Lemon Jelly
  • Pockets – Four TetBuy
  • Love N Hate – MatlockBuy
  • Disconnect the Cables (alternate version) – JapancakesBuy
