Foursquare goes down for 15 hours

John Moe Oct 5, 2010

You may have noticed the world plunged into chaos and all governments collapsed because for 15 hours, NO ONE KNEW WHERE ANYONE ELSE WAS. Fake mayors were powerless to do anything about it! The outage came at a bad time for the popular geolocation service as competition is heating up, including from Facebook’s new Places feature. Foursquare hasn’t commented on what happened.
“SEE?! It happens to other sites too!” a spokesman from Twitter didn’t really say.

Meanwhile, another competitor, [SCVNGR ]()has teamed up with the Boston Celtics to make a geolocation contest based around getting tickets to Celtics games. There’s a promotional video featuring players as well as a dancer who appears to have been polished for the occasion.
