For Marketplace, Friday, Sept. 10, 2010
Jonathan Franzen stops by to talk to Kai about his new highly-anticipated novel, “Freedom.” Kai also dissects President Obama’s press conference today, his first since May. Tonight is Fashion’s Night Out, a big fashion spectacle conceived by *Vogue* editor Anna Wintour in hopes of boosting clothing retail sales, which haven’t been helped by the shaky economy. That economy is also affecting the world of country music — Jeremy Hobson heads to Nashville to investigate what kind of songs people want to listen to in tough economic times. As for our songs, here’s the list:
- Ecstasy – Rusted RootBuy
- Vogue – MadonnaBuy
- Breakdown – Handsome Boy Modeling SchoolBuy
- Red Dress – Staff Mahan
Marketplace is on a mission.
We believe Main Street matters as much as Wall Street, economic news is made relevant and real through human stories, and a touch of humor helps enliven topics you might typically find…well, dull.
Through the signature style that only Marketplace can deliver, we’re on a mission to raise the economic intelligence of the country—but we don’t do it alone. We count on listeners and readers like you to keep this public service free and accessible to all. Will you become a partner in our mission today?
