News In Brief

Get ready for the man girdle.

Daryl Paranada Aug 19, 2010

Ah, girdles. Usually, you associate the garment with women. Well, that may soon change.

You can call them “men’s shapewear” or “compression undershirts.” But whatever name you want to give them, they’re making girdles for men now. And they seem to be catching on.

You can find the “undershirts” being sold from companies like Spanx for Men, Equmen, or a line of compression garments called Ript Skinz from Skineez Skincarewear. You can also buy the men girdles on Amazon, which is selling the Belly Buster. The undergarment is advertised as a zip-n-trim brief that “disappears under clothing and so do the bulges”

These stretchy undershirts fit like a wet suit, which helps with the love handles and beer bellies
and other jiggly parts. Industry analysts say men’s shapewear is on the uptick and an up-and-coming trend.
