I listen to pieces that I have played in our symphony. As I listen, I listen for my part (cello) and reminisce about the concerts, prep, and memories. The song that comes to mind is ‘Adagio for Strings’ by Samuel Barber. It was the first string ensemble I played in for a paying audience!!! Lots of memories! Also I listen to authentic Hawaiian music, for the same reasons — puts me in a different place and memories. Example is ‘Ka Huila Wai’ by Iz
