Another recall for Tylenol maker

Daryl Paranada May 3, 2010

The makers of Tylenol have recalled more than 40 products from store shelves – most aimed at children – because of concerns over quality. Among the products recalled:seven Tylenol, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadryl medicines for children and infants.

McNeil Consumer Healthcare, a unit of Johnson & Johnson, is facing its fourth recall in just the past seven months, and says it is undergoing “a comprehensive quality assessment.” McNeil is initiating the “voluntary” recall in consultation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a “precautionary measure,” and not because of adverse medical events.

From a McNeil press release:

Some of the products included in the recall may contain a higher concentration of active ingredient than is specified; others may contain inactive ingredients that may not meet internal testing requirements; and others may contain tiny particles. While the potential for serious medical events is remote, the company advises consumers who have purchased these recalled products to discontinue use.

To get a refund or coupons for your recalled medicine, you can call 1-888-222-6036 or contact the company through their website
